One new World Record was set at the 17th European Junior Championships in Tampere. It was made by Romanian Catalina Oprea at women´s 2000 metres Steeplechase, whose time 6.21,78 is 3,99 seconds better than Australia´s Melissa Rollinson´s previous WR. >>>

Finnish Javelin throwers gave the spectators what they wanted to see at Tampere Stadium on Saturday evening. Teemu Wirkkala, Tero Järvenpää and Antti Ruuskanen took a historical triple victory with very good results.>>>

17th European Junior (under 20 years) championships in athletics will be held in Tampere, Finland July 24th - 27th in 2003.

About 750 athletes are expected to take part to EJCH2003, and totally some 1000 members of the teams will arrive Tampere.

Tampere is a city with 200000 inhabitants and situates in Pirkanmaa-province, 180 km north-west from Helsinki, the capital of Finland. The European Championships will take place at the Tampere Stadium Ratina in the heart of the city centre.

European Athletic Association EAA, Finnish Athletic Association SUL, local organizing club Tampereen Pyrintö and the city of Tampere warmly welcome all the EJCH2003 guests to Tampere!
